An Avalanche of Kitsch: Seriously? Eleven Thousand Snow Globes?!
Eleven thousand. Let that sink in for a moment. ELEVEN THOUSAND snow globes. Apparently, somewhere in Germany, a man has dedicated his existence – his entire life – to accumulating these…these shimmering monstrosities of manufactured sentimentality. I’m not even sure where he puts them! Does he live in a warehouse? A repurposed glacier? Is he slowly being suffocated by miniature plastic figurines perpetually caught in an artificial blizzard?
Its just… baffling, isnt it? While the world grapples with real problems – climate change, political unrest, the existential dread of late-stage capitalism – this individual is meticulously cataloging tiny, glitter-dusted scenes of questionable charm. Is he attempting to create some sort of bizarre, crystalline monument to consumerism? A glittering testament to…what exactly? The triumph of pointless accumulation?
I suppose someone has to collect things. Stamps, coins, rare beetles. But snow globes? Really? It feels like the pinnacle of unnecessary dedication. I imagine his house is a constant assault on the senses – a dizzying kaleidoscope of plastic and faux-snow, punctuated by the incessant, tinkling chime of miniature music boxes.
