A Sea Lion in a Parking Lot? Seriously?
Right, let’s talk about this. A baby sea lion. In a parking lot. Apparently, someone felt it was necessary to alert the authorities and generate headlines about this…this spectacle of natures supposed fragility. Because, you know, we’re all just sitting around waiting for reports on displaced marine mammals to fill the void in our lives.
Honestly, are we that bored? Do we really need a heartwarming story about an adorable pinniped wandering away from its family and ending up amongst SUVs? Im sure it was terribly traumatic for the people who found it. I mean, imagine! Having your perfectly mundane trip to Target interrupted by…a wild animal. The sheer inconvenience!
And don’t even get me started on the outpouring of concern. “Poor little thing!” they cry. It must be so scared! Probably just wanted a closer look at the asphalt. Maybe it was searching for a rogue french fry. You know, sea lion things.
Im not suggesting we ignore distressed wildlife, but let’s have some perspective here! It got rescued, itll presumably be released back into the ocean, and everyone can pat themselves on the back for being so wonderfully compassionate. Meanwhile, real problems fester, but hey, at least a baby sea lion had a momentary detour. Fabulous. Simply fabulous.
