Seriously? More Puppy Bowl Hype? Lets Talk About Actual Canine Accomplishments
Right, because we need more coverage of fluffy little landmines tumbling over each other for a squeaky toy. As if our brains haven’t been thoroughly saturated with images of tiny paws and bewildered expressions already. Fine. You want canine athleticism? Ill give you canine athleticism. But lets skip the manufactured chaos of the Puppy Bowl and acknowledge some real feats, shall we?
First, there’s Hurricane, the border collie who holds records for sheep herding – actual, complex tasks requiring precision, intelligence, and frankly, a level of focus that these current athletes couldn’t comprehend. Then we have Saildog, the canine windsurfing champion. Yes, windsurfing. Apparently chasing squirrels isnt ambitious enough for some dogs.
And who remembers Buster, the sled dog who pulled his owner across Alaska after he was injured? Forget fleeting moments of adorable clumsiness; thats endurance and loyalty. Then there’s Flyball – at least they have to run a bit! Finally, let’s not forget agility courses – real obstacles that require training and skill.
Honestly, while I’m sure the Puppy Bowl will be… something… lets just remember these dogs who actually do something beyond looking cute for our amusement. It’s the least we can do before another onslaught of puppy-themed merchandise hits the shelves.
