The Howling Absurdity: Argentinas Newest Identity Crisis
Seriously? This is what we’ve come to? Apparently, Argentine teenagers are now wandering around Buenos Aires parks pretending to be squirrels, wolves, and… I dont even want to know what else. They’re calling themselves “therians,” which, let me tell you, sounds like a rejected Pokémon evolution. And its exploding online, naturally. Because of course the internet needed another outlet for performative eccentricity.
I understand wanting to express yourself. I really do. But feeling a kinship with a badger and subsequently donning a furry tail isn’t exactly groundbreaking self-discovery, is it? It feels less like authentic identity exploration and more like participating in an elaborate social media challenge fueled by boredom and a desperate need for validation.
Argentina, leading the charge in Latin Americas therian movement? Fantastic. Just what the nation needed – to be known worldwide for dressing up as woodland creatures. Forget tango or dulce de leche; we’re now synonymous with teenagers howling at the moon (presumably while documenting it all on TikTok).
I suppose I should be delighted that young people are finding something to occupy their time, but frankly, Id prefer they channel that energy into, you know, something productive. Like learning a useful skill or contributing meaningfully to society. But then again, who needs societal contribution when you can convincingly impersonate a raccoon?
