So, a skier slipped on a ski lift. Groundbreaking news, I know. Apparently, this is worthy of breathless reporting and viral video sharing because…someone held her up? Let’s just unpack that for a moment, shall we? Were celebrating the fact that two people happened to be nearby and possessed the reflexes (and apparently, a complete lack of personal space) to prevent a minor inconvenience from escalating into something genuinely concerning.
Honestly, the level of manufactured drama surrounding this is astounding. It’s like watching a slow-motion replay of someone dropping their ice cream cone and expecting an Oscar nomination. Were supposed to be impressed that people are…being decent? That they offered assistance when another human being briefly lost her balance? Is basic human kindness now newsworthy?
And the video! Don’t even get me started on the dramatic angles, the suspenseful music – as if we weren’t already living through a potentially awkward situation. Its all so performative. Lets just hope the “heroic” sister and friend didn’t expect a ticker-tape parade for preventing someone from experiencing slightly elevated anxiety while suspended hundreds of feet in the air.
