Seriously? A Bird and a Fishing Hook?!
Let me tell you, some days I question the very fabric of reality. Apparently, today was one of those days. We had a bird. Yes, an actual bird. Come into the emergency room. Not because it was injured by a predator, not because of habitat loss – no, this feathered friend decided to accessorize its beak with a fishing hook. A FISHING HOOK!
Honestly, I’ve treated toddlers who display more common sense. Did this bird think, You know what? I need some metal in my mouth for aesthetic purposes? Was it trying to start a new trend amongst the pigeon population?
The whole scene was just…baffling. Someone brought this poor creature in, looking genuinely concerned. Concerned! As if we’re not already swamped with actual human emergencies and now we have to deal with avian vanity projects. The vet looked mildly inconvenienced (understatement of the century). We carefully removed the hook – a process that involved much flapping and indignant chirping – and lectured whoever brought it in about responsible angling practices.
Seriously, people. Secure your hooks! Think before you cast! Dont let wildlife become unwitting participants in your recreational hobbies! It’s not cute; its irresponsible. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need a very strong cup of tea to process the absurdity of this afternoon.
