Solving Rubiks Cubes? Really, This is News?
So, we’re celebrating this now? Two British brothers and their fancy robot managed to solve a 4x4x4 Rubiks Cube in 45.3 seconds, earning them a coveted spot in the Guinness World Records. Fantastic. Truly groundbreaking stuff. I mean, before this, people were just… randomly solving Rubik’s Cubes at a much slower pace, presumably with their hands. The horror!
Let’s be honest, its 2024. We have existential threats looming, political landscapes collapsing, and climate change actively trying to boil us alive, but no, were awarding accolades for automated cube-solving. Im sure the sheer ingenuity involved in designing a machine to perform a task that’s already been mastered by thousands of people is just breathtaking.
And don’t even get me started on the “custom-built” aspect. Of course it was custom built! Who has time for off-the-shelf solutions when you can painstakingly engineer something to do precisely one, mildly impressive thing? Im sure they spent countless hours perfecting their algorithm… while neglecting more pressing matters.
I bet they’re already planning a robot to butter toast next. Then we’ll have another world record, another press release, and another reason to question the very definition of achievement in this increasingly absurd world. Congratulations, fellas. Youve officially raised the bar for… something utterly pointless.
