Seriously? A Marathon… Underground?
Right, let’s talk about this. Apparently, someone thought it was a brilliant idea to stage a marathon 3,000 feet beneath the Earths surface. A Guinness World Record, they crowed! Because apparently, suffering is now something to be celebrated with official recognition. I mean, really? Did we run out of things to achieve on, you know, terra firma?
I picture it: headlamps bouncing off damp rock walls, the air thick and stale, the faint smell of… well, who knows what lurks that deep down. Instead of cheering crowds and sunshine, they got echoing footsteps and claustrophobia. And for what? Bragging rights? Because apparently, enduring physical hardship in a completely unnatural environment is somehow impressive.
I bet the view was amazing. Just miles upon miles of grey rock. Riveting. Im sure the runners had a truly unforgettable time battling not only exhaustion but also potential cave-ins and existential dread. And let’s be honest, it probably took twice as long to run – more effort for less scenery!
Frankly, I think we should award records for things that actually benefit humanity, like inventing affordable housing or curing diseases. But no, lets celebrate a bunch of people voluntarily subjecting themselves to subterranean misery. Wonderful. Just… wonderful.
