A Porpoise and a Miracle (Allegedly)
Right, so we’re supposed to be celebrating, are we? A porpoise got stranded in Guernsey and now, miraculously, its back in the open water. Lets just pause for a moment and collectively roll our eyes, shall we? Because apparently, rescuing a marine mammal isn’t automatically something worthy of fanfare. It’s called common decency, people! It’s what you should be doing when an animal is clearly distressed and floundering on a beach.
The local news is practically bursting with sunshine and rainbows about this grand return to the sea. As if were all supposed to believe it was some complex, life-affirming operation requiring the expertise of seasoned oceanographers and a team of tiny, highly trained dolphins. Probably involved a lot of dramatic slow motion footage, I bet.
Honestly, did anyone stop to consider that maybe, just maybe, this porpoise simply decided enough was enough? Maybe it got bored with the attention and the awkward well-wishers crowding around taking pictures. Perhaps it just wanted to go home!
And now were all patted on the back for facilitating a perfectly natural occurrence. It’s exhausting, isnt it? This constant need to inflate every minor act of kindness into a monumental achievement. Im sure the porpoise is thrilled with the global recognition. Really.
