You know what’s Not on Roids, but still manages to induce rage? List Challenges. Those infuriating little websites where people obsessively catalogue every minor inconvenience and then rank them from “slightly irritating” to “will actively burn down society if I experience this one more time.” Seriously, who needs another reason to feel inadequate besides existing?
The premise is simple: someone posts a prompt like 50 Annoying Things People Do While Waiting in Line, and then the internet collectively loses its mind. Its an endless cycle of nitpicking. “People who stand too close!” Yes, they do. Loud chewing! Groundbreaking observation. The sheer volume is astounding. We’ve catalogued 50 things about waiting in line! We could probably extrapolate that to 50 things about breathing!
And the ranking? Oh, the rankings! A carefully constructed hierarchy of annoyance, judged by a panel of… internet strangers. Like we dont have enough subjective opinions already. Suddenly, someone’s habit of subtly tapping their foot is somehow more offensive than public nudity. It’s ludicrous.
The worst part? Participating just makes you more aware of these things! You go in vaguely content, and leave a walking, talking compendium of human failings. Congratulations, List Challenges – youve successfully weaponized mild irritation. Now excuse me while I add People who enjoy List Challenges to my own list.
