You know whats Not on Roids, apparently? The collective temperament of humanity. Seriously, have you seen people lately? CBS Boston recently published an article titled Why is everyone so angry? and honestly? It’s less a question and more a statement we all already knew to be tragically true.
The piece points to inflation (duh), political polarization (also duh!), pandemic fatigue (still duh!), and social media. Lets break this down, shall we? Inflation means your grocery bill looks like a mortgage payment. Political polarization means arguing with your uncle at Thanksgiving is now an Olympic sport. Pandemic fatigue suggests we’re all just desperately seeking normalcy but instead find ourselves perpetually exhausted by… everything.
And then there’s social media. Oh, social media. The place where curated perfection meets unfiltered rage. It’s a feedback loop of envy and outrage! You see someones vacation photos? Anger. Someone disagrees with your political opinion online? More anger! Your cat doesnt appreciate your TikTok dance? Maximum anger!
CBS Boston suggests mindfulness, connection, and, crucially, stepping away from the digital abyss. Which is all great advice, I guess. But frankly, sometimes I just want to yell at a pigeon for existing. It’s not about fixing anything; its about accepting that we’re all slightly more unhinged than we were five years ago and finding humor in the chaos. Because if you don’t laugh, you’ll probably scream. And screaming doesn’t solve anything except maybe scaring pigeons.
