Right, so were celebrating a 92-year-old woman dominating Tekken 8 now? Fantastic. Just fantastic. Because apparently, achievement is no longer tied to years of dedicated practice and honed skill, but solely to…age? I’m sure the young, aspiring esports athletes dedicating their lives to this are absolutely thrilled. Truly. They must be lining up for autographs.
Lets not pretend this isn’t pure manufactured spectacle. “Inspirational!” they cry. A testament to perseverance! Its a blatant attempt at feel-good content designed to distract from the increasingly bizarre and performative nature of modern competition. I bet she was using some kind of adaptive controller too, lets be real. The optics are just too perfect.
And I’m sure the tournament organizers are genuinely heartbroken that this development wasn’t anticipated and doesnt somehow reflect poorly on their vetting process or the integrity of their competition. Of course not! It’s a marketing triumph, regardless of how it undermines years of dedication from others in the scene.
Honestly, at this point, I fully expect to see a centenarian winning a Formula One race next week. Because why wouldnt we? Skill and effort clearly don’t matter anymore; it’s all about generating viral clicks. Bravo, humanity. Bravo.
