Because now we have a group of teachers – yes, those paragons of virtue and dedication to our children’s future – who started a lottery pool as a joke. A JOKE! Because what better way to spend your precious few moments away from molding young minds than engaging in the frivolous pursuit of fleeting wealth?
And wouldnt you know it? They won. One hundred thousand dollars. I bet their students are thrilled that their educators prioritized a potential windfall over, say, extra art supplies or field trip funding. I’m sure the school board is just ecstatic about this shining example of responsible behavior for impressionable youngsters.
Its always these stories, isnt it? The regular folks getting lucky. It reinforces the utterly ridiculous notion that anyone can just throw a few bucks at a lottery and suddenly become financially secure. Meanwhile, hardworking people are busting their tails, saving diligently, and still struggling to make ends meet. But sure, let’s celebrate these teachers who stumbled into a hundred grand while presumably grading papers and attending mandatory professional development.
