A Pelican, a Police Officer, and Peak Absurdity
Seriously? Beak-tacular? Is that really the best our collective vocabulary can muster when describing a distressed wild animal requiring intervention? Apparently, it is in [Florida city name], where officials apparently operate on a diet solely composed of puns and questionable PR strategies.
Lets unpack this delightful news item: A pelican – a pelican, for goodness sake – gets hurt near a bar. Wonderful. Because that’s precisely what we need more of: injured wildlife congregating around establishments serving alcohol. It paints such a vibrant picture of civic responsibility, doesnt it?
And then, because the universe clearly enjoys mocking us, a police officer swoops in to save the day! A police officer! As if their already overflowing plate of responsibilities – enforcing traffic laws, preventing crime, attending community events – needed this added. I’m sure the pelican was deeply grateful for the interruption to its suffering, delivered with all the grace and efficiency weve come to expect from law enforcement.
