Seriously? We’re celebrating this? A man lost $6,270 – SIX THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY DOLLARS! – and were acting like it’s a heartwarming tale of rainbows and unicorns because someone returned it? I mean, shouldnt the default setting for human behavior be not losing large sums of cash in the first place? Is that too much to ask?
Apparently, yes. Because now we have this ridiculously saccharine story about how some neighbor – bless their utterly predictable soul – found the money and gave it back. As if its an act of extraordinary heroism! Im sure the man is grateful, Im certain he is, but can we just acknowledge the sheer absurdity of needing a news report to highlight that returning stolen property is… you know… a good thing?
It’s like praising someone for not littering. It shouldnt require a parade! This whole situation smacks of a collective societal forgetting – a desperate yearning for any tiny flicker of goodness in a world increasingly defined by, well, losing thousands of dollars and needing to rely on the kindness of strangers.
I guess I’m just perpetually disappointed. I expected more from humanity than needing to be patted on the back for not being complete monsters. Really, though, congratulations neighbor. Youve set a new bar for basic decency. Lets all aspire to that level of… competence.
