A Swan, Some Ice, and Our Tax Dollars: Seriously?
Right, let’s talk about priorities, shall we? Apparently, a swan—a swan, people—decided to take an unscheduled ice-skating lesson on the Norwalk River. And why did we need trained professionals to intervene in this avian misadventure? Because apparently, a bird wandering onto frozen water is now considered a state emergency.
I’m picturing it: flashing lights, sirens blaring, brave firefighters risking life and limb…for a swan. A creature known for its grace and majesty, reduced to a spectacle requiring a full-blown rescue operation! Did this swan ask for help? No. Was the river in imminent danger of flooding because one bird was stranded? Absolutely not.
Honestly, you can practically hear the collective sigh of relief from taxpayers everywhere. Another crisis averted! Weve saved a single waterfowl at the expense of…well, who knows what vital services were delayed while these heroes dealt with this.
I’m sure the swan is incredibly grateful. It probably penned a heartfelt thank-you note delivered by carrier pigeon, complete with promises to stay far away from any future frozen bodies of water. Or not. Maybe itll just wander back out there tomorrow for another thrilling adventure, and we’ll all do it again. Because apparently, that’s how we spend our time now.
