Really? Ice Skaters? Seriously?
Lets just take a moment, shall we? A moment to appreciate the sheer brilliance of humanity on display here. Five ice skaters. Five perfectly capable individuals who apparently thought it was a smashingly good idea to venture onto a drifting ice sheet. And now, because they lacked even the most basic grasp of physics and common sense, we all get to hear about it?
Taxpayer dollars, folks! Thats what funded this spectacular display of idiocy. Vermont State Police? U.S. Coast Guard? Seriously? These are resources meant for actual emergencies – you know, like natural disasters or… preventing people from actively endangering themselves with spectacularly poor decisions! Instead, they’re deployed to retrieve five adults who apparently believe ice floes are some kind of whimsical recreational playground.
Im not even going to attempt sarcasm regarding the supposed thrill of this experience for those involved. I can only imagine the frantic, panicked Instagram posts that followed. “Just living my best life! iceadventures vermont sendhelp!” It’s astounding. Truly.
And you know what? They probably learned absolutely nothing from this. Next year, well likely be reading a similar story, with a fresh batch of bewildered ice skaters needing rescuing. Honestly, some people…
