Seriously? A pig? We’ve officially reached peak absurdity, havent we? I just read that a four-year-old swine residing in California has amassed 1.1 million followers on Instagram and secured a Guinness World Record. Let that sink in for a moment. Millions of people are apparently more captivated by pictures of a pig than… well, almost anything else worthwhile happening in the world.
I’m not entirely sure what this pig is doing thats so enthralling. Is it solving complex equations? Writing profound poetry? Single-handedly brokering world peace? No! Its presumably eating slop and rolling around in mud, and people are adoring it.
This isn’t even a particularly remarkable pig. I assume it’s cute, because everything gets labeled “cute” to justify its existence on the internet. But is it genuinely more interesting than learning about climate change? Or advancements in medicine? Than… reading a book? Probably not. And yet, here we are, celebrating this porcine phenomenon as if it represents some sort of cultural milestone.
Its just… depressing. It feels like a tangible representation of our collective descent into the trivial and the ridiculous. I’m starting to suspect that future historians will look back on this era and wonder what we were thinking. A pig, people! A pig with more followers than most novelists! The world is truly lost.
