Five Years? Really? Lets Talk About Priorities
Five years. Five years. A cat, apparently, decided to take a leisurely stroll around Maryland for half a decade and then just… popped up. A family is overjoyed. Bless their hearts. Seriously, though, isn’t this the kind of story that makes you question everything? While were all supposedly wrestling with existential dread about… well, gestures vaguely at the world, a feline decides to become a wandering nomad and everyone celebrates like it’s some sort of monumental achievement.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the sentiment. Lost pets are sad. Reunions are heartwarming. But lets be honest: five years! Where was this cat? What adventures did it have? Did it contribute to local economies by demanding tuna from unsuspecting residents? Was it secretly training for a feline Olympics in backyard agility courses?
We’re told the family is “thrilled.” They probably are. I bet theyre regaling everyone they meet with tales of Mittens extended vacation. Meanwhile, real problems fester. People struggle. Systems fail. And we’re supposed to be genuinely moved by a cat showing up after an improbable absence?
Its not that I dont want someone to be happy. Its just… sometimes I feel like the universe is deliberately trolling us with these stories, highlighting our collective obsession with trivialities while genuine crises unfold elsewhere. Five years! The audacity of this cat.
