Seriously? Ducklings in a Drain? Were Really Doing This Now?
So, we’ve reached peak absurdity, haven’t we? Apparently, my newsfeed needed rescuing too – from the crushing weight of actual global crises – to inform me about ducklings trapped in a storm drain in Texas. Because, you know, thats precisely where our collective attention should be focused.
Let’s just pause for a moment and consider this: tiny, fluffy birds somehow managed to wander into a concrete tube designed to funnel rainwater away from civilization? Did they organize a strategic planning session? Were they lured by promises of subterranean adventure? I doubt it. They were probably following a crumb. A single, insignificant crumb led to a full-blown rescue operation involving who knows how many taxpayer dollars and undoubtedly some very earnest photos for local news stations.
And the heartwarming narrative! The brave rescuers! The adorable ducklings! Its all just…so predictable. As if we needed another reminder of how easily our emotions can be manipulated by pictures of fluffy things. Meanwhile, I’m over here wondering when someone will rescue us from this constant barrage of feel-good fluff while the world slowly melts down.
Honestly, I fully expect a follow up story about their rehabilitation and eventual release back into the wild. Ill probably cry, then immediately question my life choices.
