Minnesota farmer wins 50th annual World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off… and breaks a WORLD RECORD
In today’s news, in a stunning and life-changing event, a Minnesota farmer has claimed the top spot at the 50th annual World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-off in Half Moon Bay, California. And if that wasn’t enough, this farmer has also shattered records with the 2,749-pound pumpkin they brought to the competition.
Our hearts go out to the other contestants who clearly didn’t realize they were competing with a giant, record-breaking behemoth of a pumpkin. It’s almost as if they should have known that bringing a measly 1,000-pound pumpkin to a weigh-off was like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
We managed to catch up with the winning farmer, who reportedly said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to win, and to show the world what excellence in the pumpkin growing world looks like. But honestly, I’m not even surprised.”
We can only assume that the other contestants are now eating humble pie, which, might we suggest, would be even better with some pumpkin spice flavoring.
In all seriousness, this is truly a fantastic achievement for the farmer and their team. Growing a pumpkin that weighs as much as a small elephant requires skill, dedication, and a lot of pumpkin love. We can only imagine the amount of work that went into coaxing this behemoth out of the ground and nurturing it to its full potential.
We imagine that there’ll be some pretty pressing questions for the farmer in the coming days. Mainly, what on earth do you do with a pumpkin that big? It’s certainly not going to fit on a porch, and we’d be surprised if even the most avid lover of pumpkin pie could eat their way through something that size.
We imagine that the farmer will be fielding offers from zoos, museums, and even Hollywood producers, wanting to use their pumpkin creation for a multitude of purposes. And who knows – maybe the farmer will never need to go pumpkin shopping again thanks to this gigantic pumpkin.
