Really? Alligators and Football Coaches?! Seriously?!
Okay, lets just unpack this for a minute. A football coach, Jon Sumrall, apparently needed to pose with a live alligator for promotional pictures? Are we trying to sell tickets or create a wildlife documentary? Because honestly, the line is blurring, people! I mean, I get it. It’s Florida. Alligators are…around. But deliberately putting a man – a grown adult responsible for young athletes, mind you – in close proximity to a creature whose instinct is to chomp is just peak absurdity.
I can practically picture the scene: Sumrall nervously smiling, trying not to trigger some primal reptile reaction, while a photographer frantically clicks away, hoping for that perfect “man versus beast” shot. And then he gets hissed at and snapped at! Because of course he does! Did anyone think to ask the alligator if it was comfortable with this whole charade? Probably not.
Its just…a lot. A deeply unnecessary, slightly terrifying, and frankly baffling amount. We’re glorifying potential danger for marketing purposes. It screams desperation and a complete lack of imagination. I expect better from institutions supposedly dedicated to education and athletics. This isn’t endearing; its mildly concerning. Frankly, Im more worried about Coach Sumralls mental state now than his win-loss record.
