A Crocodile Out of Place? Seriously?!
Right, lets just pause for a moment and collectively facepalm. A crocodile. In a creek. On the temperate east coast. Apparently, this is news. Groundbreaking, even! Because apparently, nature’s capacity to surprise us extends only as far as an apex predator deciding to take a little field trip outside its designated tropical comfort zone.
Honestly, whats next? Penguins in the Sahara? Polar bears sunbathing in Bondi? I’m just thrilled we’re all acting like this is some unprecedented event. As if ecosystems aren’t constantly shifting and species adapt or… you know… move.
And the panic! The frantic calls for wildlife experts, the bewildered expressions on news anchors faces – its simply delightful. I bet there are committees being formed as we speak to analyze the crocodile’s motivations and determine if its a threat to picnicking families. A threat?! Its a crocodile. They exist to eat things! Preferably other things, but you know… priorities.
This whole situation just screams of humanitys utter inability to grasp basic biological principles. We build our houses on floodplains, pave over habitats, and then act shocked when a crocodile decides it wants a change of scenery. Perhaps we should all take a good look at ourselves instead of freaking out about a reptile seeking a slightly less sweltering vacation spot.
