You know whats Not on Roids, but is apparently radiating negativity across America? Illinois! Seriously, folks, according to a recent study—and believe me, I’m reading this and shaking my head—Illinois has been crowned the most disliked state in the nation. And get this: a staggering 25% of its OWN residents agree its the worst place to live. Twenty-five percent! That’s practically a quarter of the population actively plotting their escape routes.

What’s driving all this self-loathing and inter-state animosity? Apparently, it’s a delightful cocktail of cost of living pressures (who can afford anything these days?) and an internal battle between Michigans liberal vibes and Illinois’ more conservative heartland. Its a civil war of ideologies played out on the population decline charts!

We’re seeing a 0.54% yearly drop in population, people! They’re fleeing, I tell you! Fleeing from…what? Cornfields? Taxes? The constant threat of a friendly Midwesterner offering you another casserole?

Its not like New Jersey is doing much better – they snagged second place on the “most hated” list thanks to neighboring states and 10% of residents agreeing that, yeah, it kinda sucks. And don’t even get me started on New York at number three! Despite being a global cultural powerhouse (apparently people are tired of art and economic prosperity), 12% of New Yorkers think its the worst place in America. Honestly, can you blame them?
