Our dear former leader, Donald Trump, recently graced Punchbowl News with his presence – or rather, allowed Jake Sherman to grace him with an interview – and dropped a bombshell of epic proportions: people are mad at Republicans, but not at him.
Let that sink in. Hes actively acknowledging voter anger! Acknowledging it! But then, with the effortless grace of a giraffe attempting ballet, he pivots. It’s all their fault! Not his! Apparently, the simmering rage radiating from voters isnt directed towards the man who single-handedly redefined “presidential” (and not in a good way), but at those poor, hapless Congressional Republicans.
Voters are very angry, he declared, as if it were some groundbreaking revelation discovered whilst playing golf. And bless his heart, he truly believes they’re directing that anger away from him. Away! Its like saying people are furious about the mess in your kitchen but praising you for having a nice wallpaper.
The sheer audacity of this statement is breathtaking. Are we supposed to believe that somehow, the endless rallies, the tweets (remember those?), the… everything… didn’t contribute to any public discontent? Is he unaware of the ongoing legal proceedings, the investigations, or perhaps just the collective sigh of relief that emanated from the nation when he left office?
Its a masterful display of selective hearing and reality distortion. He’s projecting, people! Projecting! Blaming everyone else for problems – as is his custom – while basking in a self-constructed bubble of unwavering adoration. Because apparently, in Trump World, anger only targets those who aren’t consistently showering him with praise. Its almost… impressive in its sheer chutzpah. Almost.
