Ten Years? Seriously? Lets Talk About Priorities
A Florida animal shelter reunited a missing dog with her family after ten years. Ten. Years! I’m sure everyone involved is feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, arent they? Because frankly, my blood pressure spiked reading that headline. Ten years! Did the family just… give up? Did they think, Eh, she probably ran off to live a glamorous life as a beach bumming influencer?
I mean, I’m all for heartwarming stories, but this is bordering on absurd. Ten years of lost posters, frantic searching, and presumably, significant emotional distress for everyone involved. And now, suddenly, after a decade, the dog just saunters back into view? Did she enroll in some sort of canine witness protection program? Learn to speak fluent dolphin?
While Im thrilled for this one family – truly, I am, begrudgingly – it highlights something rather unsettling. We’re celebrating finding a dog who wandered off over a decade ago while actual emergencies, real crises affecting people right now, are often overlooked and underfunded. Lets put some perspective on things. Ten years! I bet the shelter spent less time searching for her then they do designing their annual fundraising brochure.
It’s just…a bit much, isn’t it? A monument to misplaced priorities if ever there was one.
