You know what’s Not on Roids, and it’s Yamee Studio’s video “Scientific Reasons Why People May Dislike You.” Honestly? It’s a fascinating descent into why were all secretly repellant, but delivered with such relentlessly earnest cheer that I nearly hurled my chamomile tea. They try to explain social rejection using evolutionary psychology – which is fine, in theory – but the result feels like being clinically diagnosed by a particularly enthusiastic golden retriever.
Apparently, disliking you isn’t necessarily about you. Its about perceived threats! Are you too physically imposing? Bam, people will be subtly wary. Do you exude an overabundance of confidence? Prepare for resentment. Too agreeable? Youre a pushover ripe for exploitation! They even trot out the “chemosignaling” argument – supposedly our individual scents trigger automatic aversion in others. Fantastic! So basically, I’m either intimidating or boring, and my body odour is actively repelling people. Thanks, science!
The video attempts to offer solutions – be less…everything. Diminish your physical presence, quell your ambition, and for the love of all that is holy, invest in some serious deodorant. Its exhausting just listening to it! I appreciate the attempt at explaining social dynamics with actual research, but sometimes ignorance is bliss. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go apologize to everyone I’ve ever met because my pheromones are clearly offensive.
