You know what’s Not on Roids? Dreamer. Seriously, this character has been the comic book equivalent of lukewarm oatmeal for years, and everyone knew it. For a while, she was just…there. A half-alien superhero with prophetic dreams – sounds cool, right? Nope! She was boring. Utterly, devastatingly boring. And let’s be honest, that criticism extended to the entire Superman: Son of Kal-El run, which tried desperately to give her some traction.

The problem wasnt her powers; it was that she never did anything with them! She felt like a checklist item rather than an actual hero. Precognition is tricky to pull off without making a character insufferable, and Dreamer just…missed the mark. Then came Absolute Power, where Amanda Waller blackmailed her into doing villainous things. Suddenly, she became interesting – in a “people are angry at her” sort of way.

But the real magic happened in Secret Six (2025). She saved the world! Died! Came back! And now? Now she’s embittered and hated by everyone, including the public who didnt even care about her before. But that hate is generating something valuable: attention. People are finally talking about Dreamer. Maybe, just maybe, this character once relegated to being a footnote in Jon Kent’s adventures can actually become compelling. Its about time DC turned that lack of love around!
