You know whats Not on Roids, the Avengers’ apparent empathy levels when mutantkind is facing down existential threats! Seriously, folks, we’ve all seen it. Sentinels marching? No problem, lets go save a cat from a tree! Apocalypse threatening to turn Earth into an interdimensional scrap heap? “Oh, were busy with…a bake sale.” It’s frankly insulting.
Let’s be clear: both teams are ostensibly champions of the downtrodden. The Avengers fight for humanity – usually after smashing a bunch of buildings in the process. The X-Men fight for mutants, who frequently get treated like second-class citizens (and rightfully so, given the Avengers track record). You’d think there’d be some cross-team solidarity here! But no. Its crickets.
And the article – yes, an actual article on this ridiculous situation exists – confirms my suspicions: they just dont help each other much. Which begs the question, are the Avengers actively avoiding mutant crises? Do they hate mutants? I’m not saying there’s a secret cabal of Captain America-loving anti-mutant bigots in Stark Tower (though…), but their behavior speaks volumes!
The official reason? Apparently, its just complicated. Although they both fight for the side of good, the Avengers dont often come to the aid of the X-Men when they face adversity.” Brilliant explanation, Marvel! So, because things are complicated, mutants can suffer alone? Is saving a species too much trouble these days?!
Look, I get it. Mutant problems can be messy. Sentinels, gene manipulation, existential angst… Its not as straightforward as stopping Ultron (who, let’s be honest, probably would have shown more compassion for mutantkind). But if you’re going to claim to be heroes, then act like heroes! Step up, Avengers. Or at least send a strongly worded email expressing your concern. Its the very least you can do.
