Tiny Tech, Massive Pointlessness
Right, lets just get this out of the way: a 0.98-inch arcade machine? Seriously? A what now? Apparently, some twenty-four-year-old in India has decided to dedicate precious time and resources – resources that could have been used for, I don’t know, solving actual problems like figuring out why my internet constantly drops – to building a miniature monument to… well, Im not entirely sure what.
Its impressive, I guess? In the same way watching moss grow on concrete is impressive. Technically. Its a feat of engineering, no doubt requiring microscopic soldering irons and an unhealthy obsession with tiny screws. But for what? To play scaled-down versions of games that are already inherently repetitive and addictive?
I picture this thing sitting on someone’s desk, a fragile testament to the human need to complicate absolutely everything. Look at my little arcade machine! theyll cry. “It’s smaller than a postage stamp!” Yes, it is. And I bet it plays just as well as its full-sized counterparts – which means not very well at all.
Honestly, people are running out of things to do, aren’t they? They need something new. So we get this. A monument to pointless reductionism. Im sure somewhere, someone is already planning a miniature replica of the miniature arcade machine. Just…stop it. Please.
